1. Pastor’s thoughts

We are just around the corner from possibilities! If, and that is a very big “if,” December 21st would be the end of the year and you are a Pretribulation believer, you may soon be Raptured away! I have found it quite amazing to see how the United States has slipped economically as well as militarily. I remember thinking back in 2001 if the United States is out of the picture in end times, prophetically, one of two or both of these things would probably happen: We would become a shaky nation economically and/or lose a lot of our military might. Well, every day it seems that we hear of our mounting debt with no end in sight and more and more jobs being lost and tough economic times for the USA. And our military doesn’t seem to carry the “bite” it once did. When nations tolerate their own people outwardly attacking and murdering our ambassadors and we sit idly by in silence and do nothing, not even “bark,” I fear it sends a terrible message of weakness and I believe our interests will suffer more and more because of the lack of repercussions. Personal opinion time: We no longer seem to carry the respect and fear as a super power that we once did. I wonder how many nations in the Middle East would endure the attacks and affronts our nation has endured over the last decade! We seem to be more concerned about the responses of nations that hate us than our own American people!

More and more we see church attendance and support lessening in America and men falling prey to false religions. Paul warned young Timothy: “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths” (2 Timothy 4:3-4). And we grasp our hands together and say, “Oh my! What shall we do?” The answer is found in God’s Word: “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). I used to have a paper weight that said, “If it is to be, it’s up to me!” I believe that message still applies to us today, don’t you? Spend some time with God in prayer, read and study His Word and be faithful to your church in attendance and in tithing.

You do know that the church is a business. Every church has expenses, just like any other business. For it to stay in business it must have steady income. The church doesn’t sell a product and have that income to rely on to pay its expenses. For it to continually operate, it needs it members to support it by tithes and offerings. There are so many churches that have closed their doors in the last decade simply because members stopped tithing. Tithing is your way of saying, “I love you Lord! I love my church! I am making a commitment to keep You and Your Church operating by giving my tithes and offerings. Your church needs your tithe! Spend some time reading Malachi 3:10: “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”

Tithing is not a “penalty” it the way that God wants to reward your faithfulness by giving him the first 10% of your income!

And not only is it important that we give God His tithe and your offerings, we need to worship Him by being faithful in our church attendance. I had a sign marquee up that read: “Visitors welcome! Members Expected!”

One man said “When you fail to come to church, you vote to close the doors.” Another said, “When you fail to tithe, you vote to close the doors!” You say, Harsh words? Perhaps, but I believe that truer words were never spoken!”

If you attend Rose Hill you have heard your pastor say on several occasions that he wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see the Rapture take place on a rainy, cloudy Sunday morning! On those days where are you at? In church or at home sleeping in? Time is so short! It is my prayer that all who read this are ready for the Rapture! Wouldn’t’ it be terrible to know and have all of the technical knowledge about the Rapture, but not to have accepted it and have a personal relationship with Jesus and then miss the Rapture! If your relationship with Christ has slipped take joy from I John 2:1: “Dear children I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense-Jesus Christ, the Righteous One!” Simply do what I John 1:9 and Romans 10:13 tell us to do. 1. Confess your sins to Him and then accept His forgiveness. 2. Believe that He has heard your confession of your sins and has forgiven you and 3. Call upon him to save you. “For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.”

2. Something to think about:

“Do not think that you will begin to act in a great way at some future time; begin now. Do not think that you will act in a great way when you reach a different environment; act in a great way where you are now. Do not think that you will begin to act in a great way when you begin to deal with great things; begin to deal in a great way with small things.” — Wallace D. Wattles

3. Take time for a smile

The doctor decided to put his overweight patient on a diet. “I want you to eat regularly for two days,” the physician directed. “Then skip a day, and repeat this procedure for two weeks. The next time I see you, you should have lost at least five pounds.”

When the man returned, he had lost twenty pounds. “You did this just by following my instructions?” the doctor asked. The fellow nodded. “I’ll tell you, though; I thought I was going to drop dead that third day.” From hunger?” “No, from skipping!”

At the immigration office in Los Angles, when immigrants arrive for the oath of allegiance ceremony to become citizens of the United States, they gave them small American flags, made in Korea.

A husband and wife both talked in their sleep. She loved auctions; his hobby was golf. The other night, the golfer yelled, “Fore!” His wife yelled back, “Four and a quarter!”

A man gets on a train with his little boy, and gives the conductor only one ticket. “How old is your kid?” the conductor says. The father answers, “He’s four years old.” “He looks at least twelve to me,” says the suspicious conductor. And the father asks, “Can I help it if he worries?”

A mother on Norm Crosby’s street walked into her son’s room, four o’clock in the afternoon. He was asleep, a grown up son, forty-two years old. And she went right up to the bed in pointy shoes, and she kicked him and said, “Look-a you. You 42 years old, you no work, sleep, ya big-a bum. You don’t bring-no money home, I cry-a my eyes out! Shame, shame on-a you, you bum.” And the fella stood up with tears in his eyes and said, “Mother, why do you talk like that? We’re not Italian.”

A group of chess enthusiasts had checked into a hotel and were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories. After about an hour, the manager came out of the office and asked them to disperse. “But why?” they asked, as they moved off. “Because,” he said, “I can’t stand chess nuts boasting in an open foyer.”

The Great Homecoming – October 2, 2011

Scripture Focus:

  • Revelation 7:9-17

The Great Multitude in White Robes

9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice:
“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”

11 All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying:

Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.

13 Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?”

14 I answered, “Sir, you know.”

And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore,

“they are before the throne of God
and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne
will shelter them with his presence.
16 ‘Never again will they hunger;
never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat down on them,’[a]
nor any scorching heat.
17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne
will be their shepherd;
‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’[b]
‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’[c]”

1. Pastor’s thoughts

Have you noticed how fast time seems to be going now? It seems like just yesterday when many Americans were fearful of January 1, 2000, called Y2K. Some thought the end of the world would occur. Many purchased extra food and related supplies to get through this supposed terrible day. Many declared that computers would go wild, the banking system would be a mess and America would fall. Many declared the Rapture would take place and churches across the land had increased attendance due to fear of this terrible day. But, January 1, 2000 came and passed by. No Rapture occurred, the banking system didn‟t collapse nor did the computers of the country go wild.

The latest date we are hearing now is December 21, 2012. I found it amazing to “Google” December 21, 2012. Here is a sampling of what I found on the “Official Website of December21 2012.com“:

Solar Flare Could Unleash Nuclear Holocaust Across Planet Earth, Forcing Hundreds of Nuclear Power Plants Into Total Meltdowns Forget about the 2012 Mayan calendar, comet Elenin or the Rapture. The real threat to human civilization is far more mundane, and it’s right in front of our noses.

Porn Studio Building Massive Underground Bunker to ‘Ride Out the 2012 Apocalypse’ Adult entertainment studio Pink Visual announced today that the company has begun construction on an enormous underground bunker in preparation for the widely-anticipated global apocalypse that various prophetic sources have predicted will take place in late 2012.

Homeland Security Issues Warning about Potential Cyber-attacks and Civil Protests Cyber-hacking groups have gotten the attention of the Department of Homeland Security, which recently issued a warning about potential cyber-attacks and civil protests from the hacking group known as “Anonymous.”

2. Preparing for the 2012 apocalypse Post-apocalyptic worlds may exist on the big screen and in sci-fi novels, but that’s where the similarities between a disaster-ravaged planet and daily life in America end.

And on and on and on. In the New Living Translation (©2007), Jesus said, “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.” And in 2 Peter chapter 3 we read:

3 “Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, “Where is this „coming‟ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God‟s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the Day of Judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. “

Verse 8 is the icing on the cake. The time will come when the Father has ordained it to happen. The slowness in the Rapture is because God loves humanity so much He is giving humanity as much time as He can to make heaven our home. The most important thing is not “when” but that we need to be ready “whenever” He comes. It is my prayer that you and yours are ready right now!

2. Something to think about

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. -Helen Keller

3. Take time to smile

Three women die in a car accident and arrive at the pearly gates of Heaven. St. Peter greets them and says before they ever enter Heaven, “Whatever you do, don’t step on the ducks!” Well the women thought that this was a very odd thing to say, but when they enter Heaven, they see why he did! Ducks are EVERYWHERE! The 1st woman was talking to the 2nd and, not paying attention, stepped on a duck. St. Peter appears at her side with a pair of handcuffs and a hideous man. “Now that you have stepped on a duck, you shall be chained to this man for the rest of your days here.” A few weeks later, the 2nd woman suffers the same fate. Now the 3rd woman is determined to not step on a duck. Weeks, months even years pass, and she’s yet to step on a duck. Soon, St. Peter has appeared at her side with the most beautiful man she’d ever laid eyes on and a pair of handcuffs. St. Peter handcuffs them and walks away without a word. “Whatever have I done to deserve this?” the woman asks. “I don’t know about you, but I stepped on a duck.” said the man.
This 85 year old couple, having been married almost 60 years, had died in a car crash. They had been in good health the last ten years mainly due to her interest in health food, and exercise. When they reached the pearly gates, St. Peter took them to their mansion which was decked out with a beautiful kitchen and master bath suite and Jacuzzi. As they “oohed and aahed” the old man asked Peter how much all this was going to cost. “It’s free,” Peter replied, “this is Heaven.” Next they went out back to survey the championship golf course that the home backed up to. They would have golfing privileges everyday and each week the course changed to a new one representing the great golf courses on earth. The old man asked, “what are the green fees?” Peter’s reply, “This is heaven, you play for free.” Next they went to the club house and saw the lavish buffet lunch with the cuisines of the world laid out. “How much to eat?” asked the old man. “Don’t you understand yet? This is heaven, it is free!” Peter replied with some exasperation. “Well, where are the low fat and low cholesterol tables?” the old man asked timidly. Peter lectured, “That’s the best part…you can eat as much as you like of whatever you like and you never get fat and you never get sick. This is Heaven.” With that the old man went into a fit of anger, throwing down his hat and stomping on it, and shrieking wildly. Peter and his wife both tried to calm him down, asking him what was wrong.

The old man looked at his wife and said, “This is all your fault. If it weren’t for your blasted bran muffins, I could have been here ten years ago!”

This minister just had all of his remaining teeth pulled and new dentures were being made. The first Sunday, he only preached 10 minutes. The second Sunday, he preached only 20 minutes. But, on the third Sunday, he preached 1 hour 25 minutes. When asked about this by some of the congregation, he responded this way. The first Sunday, my gums were so sore it hurt to talk. The second Sunday, my dentures were hurting a lot. The third Sunday, I accidentally grabbed my wife’s dentures… and I couldn’t stop talking!
